Future Projects

Every semester, we work with students (undergraduate and graduate) who are interested in learning more about archives as researchers and specialists. Through the 12-week long internship, these students gain crucial skills that they can take with them to future jobs in museums, libraries, schools, and universities. Each cohort is chosen one month in advance of the internship, through an application and interview. Applications are posted through Handshake and LinkedIn. Archival interns develop advanced research using our in-house collections, specializing in a period of Irish-American history.

Volunteers at AIHS help us keep running through our many operations!

AIHS volunteers help with many tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Opening and closing events

  • Guiding tours and educating visitors

  • Outreach and fundraising support

As we expand our access and gain funds through grants and donors, we are able to complete more projects with the help of volunteers. In the future, these projects could look like:

  • Conducting oral history interviews

  • Transcribing scanned records

  • Conducting research

  • Preparing exhibits

  • And more!
